The rituals and traditions of the drums act as a universal language and connection to the dance world. African dance compared to Korean dance may be seen as two completely different entities. Looking deeper, the rhythms, beats, and souls of these two dance forms are found to not be so different.

This also happens in many other culture and dance forms, people become connected through the beating heart of the drum. Yet by understanding the form and technique of dance and rhythm that comes wit the drum, the rift between cultures can be resolved. Drums with heavy influence in Korean dance can be found in folk, courtesan, and ancient ritual dances of Korea's past, while the types of drums used in each dance weighs great significance on the meaning of the form itself.
